About Pilgrim & Trout

David Majerowicz and Greg Whipp formed Pilgrim & Trout in 1981. The two met while playing the local Annapolis scène. The duo’s name was inspired by two characters (Billy Pilgrim and Kilgore Trout) from Kurt Vonnegut’s novel, Slaughterhouse Five. They have been performing over the past 27 years in venues all around the Maryland/Washington D.C./ Virginia area, and have built a solid following. After the first few years, performing as a duo, Bruce Carter was added to the lineup. Joe Walsh has recently been added as well. All are veteran musicians and longtime friends.

The full band lineup is:
David Majerowicz (acoustic guitar, resonator guitar, electric guitar, vocals)
Greg Whipp (bass guitar, classical guitar, vocals)
Bruce Carter (drums, congas, percussion, vocals)
Joe Walsh (electric guitar, vocals)

Pilgrim & Trout’s sound is characterized by strong lead vocals, tight multi-part harmonies and richly layered instrumentation. The interaction of four voices and four instruments make Pilgrim & Trout as much fun to watch, as they are to hear. Clever use of rhythmic and dynamic changes always keeps the listener engaged whether it’s a quiet ballad, an infectious groove, or an all out rocker. All this is delivered in pristine sound quality at an appropriate volume, making it a truly enjoyable experience.

Their performances include many well-received original songs as well as a mix of music from artists of all styles and eras. Nothing is off limits and their set list always contains a few surprises. The focus is on fun. Playful banter between the band members, as well as with the audience is always a part of the show. More often than not, you will see talented local musicians drop by to sit in for a song or two.

“Keepers”, a live recording of a Pilgrim & Trout performance was released in 1991.

They are currently working on original material for a new CD.
